Jesus, I Can't Do This Alone

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
Psalms 46:1 (NIV)

There are moments when the strongest prayer we can pray is also the simplest:

Jesus, I need You. I can’t do this alone.

Maybe you’ve reached one of those moments. You’ve kept going, cared for everyone around you, carried the responsibilities, and tried your best to hold everything together.

But underneath it all, you’re tired.

Soul tired.

I’ve been there.

During one of the most overwhelming seasons of my life, I found myself crying in the sunroom of my home. I had spent months carrying pregnancy, separation from my husband while he was away for military training, childbirth, sleepless nights, motherhood, loneliness, fear, and the pressure of trying to keep everything together.

Finally, I prayed:

“Jesus, I need You. I can’t do this alone.”

Nothing about my circumstances instantly changed. But something in me began to.

Because sometimes reaching the end of ourselves isn’t the end at all.

Sometimes it’s where surrender begins.

Jesus never asked us to become strong enough to live independently from Him. He said, “Apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

There is freedom in realizing you were never meant to be enough on your own.

Dependence on Jesus isn’t evidence that your faith is failing. It is faith—looking at what is in front of you and saying:

I can’t—but You can.

I don’t know what to do—but You do.

I don’t have enough strength—but You are my strength.

Maybe today you don’t need enough grace for the next ten years—or even tomorrow.

Maybe you simply need grace for the next thing.

The next feeding.
The next meeting.
The next conversation.
The next bedtime.
The next ten minutes.

Whatever you're carrying today, you don’t have to carry tomorrow too.

Bring this moment to Jesus.

You don’t have to be enough. Jesus is.

What am I carrying today that God never asked me to carry alone?

A Simple Prayer

Jesus, I can’t do this without You. Be my refuge and my strength. Help me release what belongs to You and give me grace for the next thing You’ve asked me to do. Remind me that I don’t have to carry everything alone because You are near.
